Sound help with Smart TVZ and receiver

I have a LG Smart Tv 55UH61 and a Pioneer AV receiver VSX-530. I am trying to run the TV through the optical or the ARC, and I have no sound. Help, please!

On many TVs you have to turn on the optical out on the TV and sometimes turn off the TV speakers to get it to work. You may also need to configure the input of the receiver to assign the rear panel input (say opt 1) to an input (say AV1).
To use ARC you need it in both the TV and receiver. It does need to be turned on to work.
