Hi Snooko,

I just checked and indeed the McGill link to VDM Sound is gone:
http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~vromas/vdmsound

You can get directly from the SourceForge project site:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound/

Hi Sinooko,

The properties of the card as found in the Windows XP device
manager will show you it's IRQ etc., for the windows environment,
however if you post your Sound Card and System Info directly at
the VDM Sound's support page, they should already have that info:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=20091&atid=220091

The program i downloaded from your link gives me good sound in the origional
warcraft but the sound in M.A.X. is still pretty sorry. M.A.X. ran like a
dream on a 50 Mhz win 3.1 system, but it just doesn't like XP much for some
reason. It would be a considerable loss if all dos games where just left
behind in the techno dust. Most of these games will never be remade. my point
is, microsoft had a system capable of running these programs at one point,
and i was wondering if they could assign some programmers to smoothing the
wrinkles in backwords compatibility.

Hi Sinooko,

Well, Windows is more stable and robust without "Real DOS"
however, just boot from a DOS floppy and you'll be in business! :)

Try using the Multiboot bootdisk from:
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~lpcd/downloads.html

With DOSBOX you can emulate a DOS computer on your XP desktop:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/information.php Or try MS Virtual PC:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/virtualpc/downloads/trial.asp
which allows you to install DOS or to run any operating system inside XP.
