Sound ingame question

My teammate hears ingame sound like footsteps much further than me. I hear them only in the house i'm in while he can hear them 3 houses ahead. We have the same PC build and same headset. Does anyone know what causes this?

Explore your sound settings, potentially at a software level for your headset (depending on what it is).

There should be options for "enhanced surround sound", "spacial sound" etc. Compare those settings with your friend's system.

We checked everything that we could think of and we both have the same settings so I don't know what it could be

Have you actually heard this difference yourself? If not, try it out. See if you hear a difference between your rig and your friends.

The difference could simply be in their perception &/or volume levels etc.
