Sound is bad when speakers are connected to monitor

I don't know if this is the place for this, but I have a set of speakers connected to a monitor, which is connected to my ps3, xbox and computer through an hdmi splitter. Before, when the speakers were directly connected to the computer, the sound quality was great, and now with any relatively high pitched noise, the speakers put out a very static-y noise. Is this an easy fix? I'd really like to keep it simple.

Try enabling a bass boost option in control panel. It's in the enhancement tab of speaker properties.

Try enabling a bass boost option in control panel. It's in the enhancement tab of speaker properties.

I have bass management, room correction and loudness equalization all checked already. The control panel hardly lets you adjust sound when its going through the monitor.
