So I have an AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition and when I overclock it at all within the BIOS the sound cuts in and out during gaming. Now, I am using the integrated sound (realtek) and have read that overclocking can affect integrated components as well. What I don't understand is, if I overclock my CPU using AMD Overdrive instead of the BIOS I don't have the same issues. Anyone give me some insight?

okay, a nvidia chipset mobo..

well, this unit has an unified southbridge and northbridge chipset.., so all processing for other hardware input output through single chip..
this chipset usually really hot..

plus, 3+1 phase power and naked vrm without heatsink..well, this board really2 not intended for overclocking..

I suggest you not overclock with board..

Like what i said before, your vrm phase power is not enough to handle overclock wattage power requirement, it's interfere with other component in your motherboard, in this case, your onboard soundcard..

And single chip design for northbridge and southbridge make it worse..

Run in default speed, and you'll be fine.
well..
what is your motherboard..?
actually if your vrm phase power is not enough to handle overclock wattage power requirement, it would interfere with other component in your motherboard, in this case, your onboard soundcard..
