Hey everyone

So I turned my pc on this evening, and as the title states - no sound.

Realtek shows the jack plugged in, windows shows the device as having sound being played (as does realtek), but nothing plays through my headphones. These have been working perfectly for the past year.

Ive tried the front port, back port, and playing through both simultaneously - none of which seem to work.
I updated, uninstalled, and reinstalled my drivers, no luck.

Then I got hold of a USB headset - these work fine.

Normally id settle for a workaround, but I need the ports working (no ways Im settling for crummy USB headphones).

Is there anything I should be checking? Any way to check that the ports have blown - or something to that affect?

Ive reinstalled windows to no avail.

Specs: 460 GTX 1GB (x2); i5 2500k; p8-p67 m-pro; 8GB RAM etc.

Thanks in advance!

Yep it does show that its plugged in - a message popups stating that a headphone/speakers have been plugged in.
I include a picture without anything plugged in (note all the rear ports are greyed out; whereas in the picture in my first post the green analog port is a different shade of green - not having been greyed out)

Tried this too :/ Still no luck.. The image in my first post shows sound coming through (there are a few green bars highlighted in mmsys.cpl) but no sound is actually being played through my headset.

Would you rate my sound card is fried or am I just missing something else?

My understanding is that USB headsets use their own drivers/integrated sound card to produce sound. This is why (I think) the USB headset is working perfectly.

Some similiar issues: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/323935-28-headsets-internal-sound-card-dilemma or http://techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=68643

The headset im keen to use works perfectly in other computers. I have also used a different headset in my pc, the same problem presents.

Tried that now as well and still no luck. Ive given the board back to the place I bought it from. Theyll do some testing and either figure out the issue/give me a new board.

Ill reply back as soon as I get my mobo back.
