I was watching youtube on my laptop. Suddenly the screen went black. After I rebooted the laptop, sound stopped working on the laptop.
I do not have my laptop on mute. I also tried to reinstall the audio driver. Still I am not able to get the laptop sound to work.
Could you please suggest a solution to this issue?
Thank you!

When you go to Control Panel > Sound, do you see your Line and Microphone devices?

Do you have S/PDIF Digital output enabled? If so you should try to select your speaker/Line Out as your default instead.

Are you able to manipulate these settings?

Right click on the volume icon to the left of the clock on the Task Bar and select the Mixer.

Do the correct channels appear here? Are any muted?

Okay. Well, give this a try.

First, turn down the volume on the computer to about fifty percent. We don't need ear-drums problems that could render this entire exercise irrelevant.

Right click on the volume icon.

Select 'Recording devices'.

Click on the top one and click on Properties.

Select the Listen tab and check the Listen to this device' box.

Select the Levels tab and boost the volume a little.

Do the same for all the 'Recording devices'.

If you find one that works, set it as default and stop the other devices from being listened to, if you want.

Any improvement?
