Sound panel not detecting my monitor

Hello all,

I am using a new headset so I have not had to use my monitor for sound for a little over a week now but me and a friend want to watch a movie or two.

When on the sound panel in windows 8.1 it is not displaying my monitor even though "show disabled" and " show disconnected" is selected.

I have just updated my drivers and no cigar.


any help would be appreciated.

What is your default playback device set to. Should be hdmi if that is how your monitor is connected.

it is currently set to my hyperX Cloud 2 headset. When my monitor was being detected is used to be under the monitors name.

it is connected via HDMI but it is not showing up, also the Nvidia HDMI output ports say they are not connected.

Something I would like to add and I'm not sure how much of a difference this will make is that I uninstalled intels core2 duo drivers. I did this because I thought they were obsolete for my processor which is an i7 4770K
