sound peripheral not attached

i have installed windows 7 in my PC it was working well but now it is giving an error "peripheral not attached" in speakers field, but i have attached speakers what should i do..??

The first thing you should do is try downloading an updated sound card driver from your computer manufacturer's website.

After installing that driver, verify that Speakers are set to be the default device in the Sound utility. You can do this by right-clicking the sound/speaker icon in the bottom-right task tray, clicking "Playback devices," right-clicking "Speakers," and selecting "Set as Default Device" if it is not already set as the default device.
