Sound/video randomness

Hi everyone, new to these forums but I'm just looking for any kind of help to finally get this problem fixed...

What happens is that I'll be using my computer for basically anything (though the problem happens a lot more with games, movies, internet browsers, etc.) and my sound will randomly go out and any video I play is stuttering and skipping with no audio. Nothing I did would make it come back on or fix my video playback until I restarted my computer. At first I thought it was just the sound drivers that came with my video card's drivers conflicting with my Realtek HD audio device but deleting and reinstalling drivers never permanently took care of the problem. Nothing else I've tried really seemed to work so I decided to try and see if the sound/video problem would occur if I used my TV's speakers and also the other HD audio device that came with my video card. The problem hasn't occurred this way, but I did find out a very interesting detail. When the sound goes out, and I have my TV set-up as my monitor with both my speakers and the TV's audio connected, I can change the default device to the TV and have my sound work and videos playing right. But, as soon as I change it back to the realtek device the problem returns.

Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

The realtek audio may not have enough resources or audio buffers to fully support the game or video. This seems pretty typical for onboard sound. If the game has an option for the number of audio channels/buffers, try decreasing it to 8 or less and see if it makes a difference.

That would make sense seeing as how it always seems to happen especially when my computers under stress. The only problem is, even if this were the case, none of the games I play have these options. Also, the problem happens even when there isn't a huge load on the PC such as itunes or even the internet. Do the resources my PC uses increase over time or is just clutter and space the issue?

Still having this problem, been trying a few new things but still no fix. I just tried deleting all my video and audio drivers by uninstalling and deleting and all files I could find, then I booted into safe mode, used Driver Sweeper and cleaned up some more, then finally installed the newest video drivers and then sound drivers when I rebooted. It seemed to work for a few days but then it came back.

I also tried to use Event Viewer to see if I could find anything when my sound goes out but I don't really know what I'm looking for.. Is this all just a software problem?? Or could it be my hardware failing because my video card may be a factor due to the choppy video playback accompanied with the sound outage??
