[SOLVED] Soundbar connect to old Toshiba TV

I want to connect a soundbar to my Toshiba TV (model 55G31OU...2011 model). This model does not have an HDMI output so I am trying to connect via optical audio cable. I have been unsuccessful. I'm thinking that there is some audio setting on the TV that I need to set, but I haven't found it. Does anyone know how to make this connection?
