Hey all,

I've just found a old Toshibia 300CDT laptop, the HDD was dead, so I put a new one in, and installed DOS 7.10, but I cant find any sound drivers for it! The computer has this listed as it's sound device from the Toshibia website "Sound system: 16-bit stereo Sound Blaster Pro compatible, MIDI & WAVE support, built-in stereo speakers"

I can't seem to find any Soundblaster PRO drivers anywhere, and listening to music through the PC beeper just doesn't cut it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for bothering to reply, but thise are just driver updates, and in the details, it says that I need SBPDU.exe and SBPWU.exe, it provides links, but the links just 404. I've just founf my old Windows 98 disk, so I wont be needing the DOS drivers anymore, I'll need the 98 ones. Anyway, thanks for replying in the first place!

Spot on about the internal speaker, I've been listening to all my .mod files through it! It doesn't sound the greatest though. Turns out my laptop is designed for windows 95, so drivers for 95 should still work on 98, right? But I still can't find them. The closest I got was DOS and Windows 3.1 driver updaters, not the actual drivers. All the links for the actual drivers on Creative's website just 404 me. And Toshibia don't have any on the page about this laptop. I got another old laptop a few days ago, from 1989. Not sure what to do with it.

Yea I personally like it. I don't know if you are a fan of the old Monkey Island series, but I pretty much built a computer just for playing them. My internal speaker isn't loud but I love hearing them come from it.

Anyways 95 drivers sometimes work on 98, it depends. If you would like, type out your motherboard model, sound card model, and anything else you can't find and I will have a look for you. I may be able to help if you have any other issues with 98 either, I've learned a good bit about it lately.

I've never played Monkey Island, I've heard the music though. My excuse for not playing Monkey Island is that I'm only 15, and not too well informed on old games. Old hardware, yes, but not games and software. And when I said that I didn't like the PC beeper much, I meant that I didn't like the sound of it trying yo play .wav files and stuff, but I love the chiptune aspect of it. And about the motherboard info, its a laptop, so I'm not too sure. But here's a link to the official specs on Toshibia's website: http://www.toshiba-europe.com/bv/computers/products/notebooks/satellite300cdt/product.shtm
Thanks for helping!

Oh well you should try it, its pretty great. :)
I like the sounds because my computer games that are using the internal speaker were created with the idea of only having that internal speaker available. So they sound good.

So I looked at your system specs and but couldn't quite find what I need to find drivers for you. On a downloadable page it said this laptop is either a Toshiba Satellite 300 Series CDS or CDT. Not sure which though, but if you can see if it says CDS or CDT anywhere on it I will see if I can't find what you are looking for.

Btw, one other thought I see that thing came with only 32MB of RAM in it, well if it has never been upgraded you may want to think about it. Changing RAM is usually very easy, and old ram like that is only a few dollars on Ebay. You cannot take it real high but for $5 you would get considerable boost in performance. Seems bad to spend money on a system that old in a way but just a thought.
