Hello I am looking to buy new headphones and I got my eyes on ATH m40x and I was wondering if my mobo is enough or should I get a dac/amp

You should be OK without a headphone amp with that model. Get them and see how they sound, if the audio is a bit low, you can get a headphone amp then.
