Recent thread I posted of sound card for my SFF Optiplex Dell. I'm looking for further information about this specific sound card at Newegg and if it will fit my computer (Dell Optiplex Small Form Factor 980)?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=ASUS+Xonar+Sound+PC&N=-1&isNodeId=1

I tried copying the link to the exact Sound card but was only able to copy the page of sound cards (at Newegg) and of that selection it is the Asus card i'm interested in: ASUS Xonar DG SI CMI8786 - PCI - 24 bit - Internal

Thanks for any info. if you know the particular model Dell I have and knowledge of sound card(s).

I cannot find any dimension specs of that sound card, specifically the length of it. What I can tell is that it requires a full PCIe slot and not the little PCIe slot. So you'd have to guess on the length working on your SFF box and if you have an available full length PCIe slot.

Thanks for the input and you're right, the specs on that SC isn't too much shown, but I'm copying (i hope anyway) a snippit of the Board that is the SFF and it shows a PCI slot that i believe is standard size for the 64 bit processor and without too much info. on the card, i looked ahead at salerhino's idea of a USB connection and that might be worth checking out as well (in the post reply after yours).
Either way, thanks for taking time & i'll follow back if interested to share results, etc...

Thanks for reply and the idea of the USB connection for what I'm trying to get in Sound improve...(Not, however, and to answer on usage as far as not for studio or professional recording, etc...) just for general music, videos, and not even for Games(er) and that might get a low pointer there :) (just a little joke)
But yes, I'm finally getting to the audio on this Optiplex computer that I like it and purchased new even though it's older model, it has SDD installed and as far as the internal speaker goes, long story short (hopefully) but from the get-go it's taken charge over the 2.1 speakers that either way isn't correct or from what would be default settings, etc...and the solution is to disengage discharge or de-tach internal cable to speaker and say Adios.
Thanks again for taking time in this & the info. and
I'm going to get going w/checking out the flash or the USB...compo and we'll see. T/Care*
