Is there anything out there that is reasonably priced that could do the following:

1. Plug a guitar, microphone, keyboard, etc. into and record
2. Has a USB or PCI interface
3. Work with Cakewalk Music Creator Pro 24 or Magix Music Studio 2005 Deluxe
4. Be easy enough for someone with an extra chromosome to use

I believe that is what you are looking for, that site doesn't actually sell that model anymore though, but that should get you started.

In the links on the left side of that site, you will see PCI, there is a bunch of stuff there. Might check it out.
