Sounds keeping dissapearing! ASUS Z87I-PRO Mini-ITX Intel Z87 Motherboard..

Just built a new Mini itx pc today, well at least added a new motherboard and cpu and Gpu. The board I got was a ASUS Z87I-PRO Mini-ITX Intel Z87 Motherboard. Intel I5 and a XFX R9 280X Gpu. System running well a but one problem.

I am using the HDMI out of the GPU for video and sound and have it working fine until I do something that does not involve sound output say the internet and then I go back to needing sound and there is nothing, no sound.

The device still shows as working but no sound it output. The only fix is to restart and then it happens again as soon as I do something not needing sound it dissapears again as soon as I try play a video or song etc.

Any ideas..

Try installing new drivers on the motherboard?

I have. Installed the disc drivers during the build an downloaded the latest of the website. The reltech software suite only list the optical and analogue outputs and not the hpi HDMI so I am wondering if that software is trying to override things. I have also disabled both those connections to force HDMI but that has no effect on the issue.

Ask Asus for an RMA or replacement. It may be faulty hardware at fault.
