I have a Microtek Scanmaker 4600 with a bad lamp. Microtek sells the lamp
but at a cost of $37. Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement lamp.
The raw lamp would be fine as I can solder the wires to the old harness.

Pay the $37.

You could do a Google search.

The problem is getting the correct lamp.

If its anything like the lamp used on Umax Astra scanners though, the same
£15 item (USD $27) fits a multitude of models (may even fit my Microtek
Scanmaker 3600) so it may be a fairly common scanner lamp! I suspect many
scanner sellers just rely on the fact most people won't bother looking for
the cheapest supplier but take the easiest option and hike their prices up
accordingly. Good luck with your search's Chris - I'll be watching with
interest (wouldn't be surprised if the lamp needed for your scanner also
fits mine). Just out of interest, how do you know its a faulty lamp rather
than an inverter prob Chris? My Scanmaker 3600 lamp is now dim and pink
coloured - is that what yours is like?
