Source of coil whine

So I am getting coil whine that sounds more like stock-footage electricity than the high pitched shit in the typical examples. When I get this, it coincides with one of my monitors flickering with white horizontal lines. I am using the Vga connector on my monitor to a DP on my GPU, which I know is a sin and I could replace it, but I think it could identify whether the source of my coil whine is from the GPU (MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X) or the PSU (EVGA 750BQ). I suspect the PSU. But maybe if one of you know that monitor outputs being affected means faulty GPU, that could help me identify it. Thanks!

Remove the video card from the system, then check if the noise is still there. Issue may be is that if it's coming from the power supply it may only do that when it's stressed with the card. You can't tell where the sound is by listening? Even if you open the case and put your ear next to the components?
