Qualcomm has "allegedly" been approaching Intel with buy offers pretty much every other week for months, why would they now wait until after the election.

Unless Qualcomm has a fix for Intel Processors. I am not sure this would be a wise decision to acquire Intel. The price is attractive. But the burden of fixing a huge design problem in Intel CPU's is immense. If Intel could have fixed this problem it would have done so long ago. Qualcomm will will still have to contend with AMD. Who has a sweet relationship with TSMC that dates back many years ago.
