Question Space trading without recurrent fee

I'd like to play on PC without recurrent fee in which I could pilot a ship between planets, preferably also star systems, and I could have passengers or cargo to do trading or transportation; hopefully the game is multiplayer, but it not a requirement. The game should be either free or semi-regularly be on Steam for < 30 USD; I can wait a few months for it to go back on sale if it often do. If there is a version with no recurrent fee, and one that does, the difference must not be substantial; ie: if you don't pay a month you'll fail a substantial # of missions, or make > 50% less in-game money.

Elite dangerous is cheap and has both a single player as well as multi.
No subscription, one big dlc that changes stuff but isn't really necessary and lots of cosmetic DLC if you want to support the game further.

While I'm waiting for the price to drop, I found multiple GPL space games with a Windows version which latest release is from 2020 (or later) : Vega Strike, Oolite, Adanaxis & Pioneer. Have you tried some or have something to share about them?
