So my friend recently got some pc parts for Christmas to build a pc, after I finally convinced him to move from Xbox to PC gaming. He FaceTimed me while he was building (This is his first time building a pc), so he could ask any questions if needed, so I saw most of what he was doing besides when I had to leave for about an hour, and I didn’t see anything blatantly wrong, besides he was building on a wooden table while standing on carpet. He didn’t decide to move so he continued and therefore finished the build in a bit under 5 hours (oof). I was watching through my phone as he clicked the power button, and first try, everything turned on. I guess he didn’t have the monitor plugged in like I told him to, to see if we couldn’t boot to the BIOS. At that moment his dad pointed out that he saw a strange yellow light (Maybe a spark, or strangely placed LED)that came out the bottom right side of the case (The side where the back of the motherboard was exposed). They shut off the computer (This time plugging in the monitor) and the fans began to spin but that same yellow spark like light flashed again in the same spot, and I guess they began to smell something burning. They immediately unplugged everything an took everything out. There was no obvious damage to the motherboard or any other parts. Should we try again and reassemble the PC? Will that put the he other maybe not yet damaged parts at risk of breaking if we try again? Is it possible the yellow light is an LED? Is it common for a boot LED to be located in the back of the motherboard? If it was a shock, what could have caused it the carpet?
Any answers are greaty appreciated.
