Question Speaker goes mute if volume goes below a certain threshold

I recently bought an LG - 2.1-Channel 300W Soundbar System with 6" Subwoofer and the first issue I seem to have is that if I lower the volume too much, it goes completely mute in some parts, most noticeably is with videos that have a faint background track, that you can only hear when a louder noise happens, then goes back to mute. Could it be an issue with my sound bar or the PC?

No issue with either, it's just the dynamic range. You should have an option somewhere to help with this called dynamic range compression. It will try to equalize the difference between loud and quiet sounds so the loud is less shocking when it kicks in and the low sounds are a bit louder.
