Speaker reading infinite ohms.

I have an old pair of Monitor Audio 2s. They are incredible speakers

On one of the speakers, the mid speaker is not producing any sound (the tweeter is fine). I measured the ohms and it reads infinite (the other working speaker reads ~5 ohms). I'm assuming that means my speaker is blown or something. The speaker itself is physically fine (no tears, and its still springy).

What are my options? Can it be repaired? Should I take it to an audio repair center?

I'm not too versed on repair, but I can start you off. First, open it up and take a look around. With any luck it could be something as simply as a wire between the posts and the crossover got damaged or disconnected. After that, take a look at the crossover itself and see if one or more components are bad.

If everything looks ok, you can use the working speaker's crossover to see if it can drive the midrange and tweeter in the non-functioning one. If it does, you know something is wrong with the crossover and perhaps an electronic repair shop can help you out for relatively cheap (especially if you can isolate the problem).

If the drivers do not work, then you'll have to contact Monitor Audio to see what the cost is for replacements.

Basically you should find out where the problem is, after that you'll have a better idea of what to do, which you can come back and ask about.

When a voice coil reads infinite then it is blown. The coil of wire has a break in it. Check with Monitor Audio on the replacement price first.
If the midrange is a cone mid then it can be repaired. Check with

Sorry, was late at night and misread the post thinking that it was infinite across the posts. In this case AA is correct and you need to contact Monitor audio on replacement.
