Speakers and headphone are the same in playback devices

I have recently acquired a pair of speakers with better quality that my older ones, although the speakers and my headset that i use for Skype show up as the same thing in playback devices so i can not set the speakers as default. How do i solve this?

I take it you aren't plugging them in the same port? Try unplugging them both then plugging them back in to see if the PC detects them separately.

Thank you for trying to help but i have already tried this and just did it again and it did not work. Have another suggestions?

Try uninstalling your audio drivers then re-installing.
