Speakers are unplugged (not so...)

As the title says the control panel says the speakers are unplugged but that's not the case. I have built in speakers with my monitor so how it can be unplugged I have no idea. I just recently put this pc together and updated the drivers from the motherboard disc that came with it. If there's some cable I forget to run from the monitor to the case then, well, I'm just foolish but I don't think that's the case (this time). Here are my specs:

Asus P8P67 Rev 3.0 mb with Realtek ALC892 integrated sound card.

Not an ideal sound setup but that can be upgraded later. I'm just looking to get what I have now working.

You may have speakers built into the monitor, but you still need a cable from the front line out jack (the light green one) to the monitor speaker in jack. You need a 1/8" stereo jack to 1/"8 stereo jack cable. One should have come with your monitor. Otherwise, the cable is about $5 at your local Rat Shack.

Hoping you could help me further with my similar issue..............i have a 2.1 speaker system that utilizes the green 1/8 output; i was wanting to use this monitors built in speakers as a Center channel speaker as i can not find a powered cc. can this be done?
