Speakers aren't recognized by my pc.

So I recently upgraded a few components in my rig and ended up having an unexpected issue with having no sound coming out of my audio jacks. I have tried plugging the speakers I always use into other devices and they are working fine.

I bought a new case and some RAM upgrades for my desktop pc.

Specs:
Mobo : GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3P
RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAW 2x8GB 1600 <-new addition
Power supply: corsair 750W
CPU, AMD FX black vishira 8 core 3.5 MHz (4.0 OC)
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 650 Ti boost 1Gb

I use a 32 in TV with hdmi connection into the GPU.

Now then, I put all of the guts into a new case. Wired everything into the motherboard, then started up the computer and everything seemed fine. The sound was a bit off. I realized the sound was now coming out of my monitor speakers. (I used to have the TV volume was at a 1, so I never really heard sound from the monitor.)

I see all these videos about going to make sure drivers are correct. I checked the drivers for the sound, all of which are up to date.

I went into audio mixer. The sound was playing through the HDMI 1 port for the monitor.

I tried disabled the hdmi sound and tried to find the audio ports in the mixer to set as primary. The aren't showing up at all.

I have a front audio port for headphones, I have tried plugging into those as well, and still nothing.

I have rechecked the wiring inside the case and can't find anything out of place.

At this point I've tried just about every fix I've found online, and I'm thinking maybe I've got a hardware problem.

I do not believe I was hard on the motherboard when I transplanted all of the goods to the new case. Any advise would be great. Should I consider buying a sound card for my rig to see if that helps?

Most likely you're just confused.

Right click on the sound icon and click playback devices. Go to "speakers", "headphone", or a similar name item and click "set as default". After that, restart any software you were using.

If you are having issues after that, install MPC-HC and in the options section select the audio output device to your speakers, and restart the program, then play a video. If no option there gives you sound output, you might have some serious issues

Let me reiterate. I didn't have this problem until I moved hardware. I guess I need to know if this is a common problem having the sound ports go bad or not. If I buy a sound card with new ports maybe that would help?

So, I bought a new sound card, installed it, and now my speakers are mysteriously showing as a playback option in the sound settings. This was a hardware problem, plain and simple. Maybe try to be a little less condescending with your future replies. I wanted a wide range of possible problems to get a feel for what this might have needed to be resolved. I am an IT guy, I'm no stranger to computer settings.

the sound card was the answer. New installation and now my speakers are showing up as a select-able audio source. The audio ports were bad from the move from case to case.
