Hello, I'm planning to build a high-end system for a friend as a gift. (he's helped me heaps in the past so it's my way of saying thank you)
Total cost for the system is around US$2300-$2700 for PC only, he can use existing monitor with the new PC or I'll recommend him a monitor to go with PC for him to buy.
(That's my plan atm, but guess I can also buy him the monitor by spending less on the parts or increasing my budget)
He'll mainly use the PC for MS Office and browsing the net and maybe occasional games(latest Call of Duty).
So I know that he doesn't really need high-end PC, but I still want to get him something nice and hopefully high-end PC will last him bit longer. Also I'm hoping he'll think "wow, this must be good" or "this looks really nice" etc.
That's why I rather get him i9 11900K over i7 10700K when I know 10700K would be good enough and he won't benefit or even notice any difference when he's using the PC with 11900K.
I probably won't be build the system for another ~6 months(?) but I'd probably go for something if I had to build it today:
CPU: Intel i9 11900K or 11900
HSF: Noctua NH-U12A or NH-D15
M/B: Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite AX or Z590 Aorus Ultra
GPU: EVGA RTX3060Ti FTW3 Ultra or maybe 3070 or 3060
RAM: 32GB(4x 8GB) G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3600C19 or similar
SSD: 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 or similar
Case: CoolerMaster H500 or Lian Li Lancool 215 Mesh
PSU: Corsair HX850 or Corsair RM850x
Just like any system build, each component need to be reasonable price to fit within the total budget, but this build is very flexible because there really isn't any set requirement.
I think only requirement = need to run very quite all the time, not too heavy(lighter the better, ideally under 20kg), not too large(standard ATX sized case is fine), and fast enough for occasional games(CoD at 1440p).
That's why I asked "Any case worth spending $300-$400?" on the title, because I thought maybe buying expensive(by spending less on other parts) might not be a bad idea in this case.
