Hi all,

My first post, YAY :)

Okay, my friend needs a specific computer -

He does Video Editing, CAD/CAM AND plays games.

He currently has 3 seperate pc's (one for each activity)

What spec PC should he build that will be capable of doing all these?

It may sound like a silly question  , but i'm lost, as i never build anything this high spec.

Any help appreciated :)

Assuming that £1500 is just for the case and what goes in it, then this is what I'd recommend:

CPU: Intel I7 930 £235
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/193596
If he's going to buy an aftermarket heatsink, then get the OEM version from OCUK: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-318-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=1272 £222

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R £161
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/195331
Has plenty of the features as it's bigger brothers, overclocks very well and is cheaper, and oft recommended.

RAM: Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz XMS3 Memory Kit CL7(7-8-7-20) 1.65V £170
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/191182

GPU: XFX HD 5870 1GB DDR5 £323
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/200580

PSU: Antec Truepower New TP750 £99
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159921
Powerful enough to crossfire two 5870s and an OC on the CPU.
They have this for £2 cheaper on OCUK.

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB £55
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173804

OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium OEM £80
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173791

Standard SATA DVD Drive £15
Blu-Ray would cost about £55

Case: CoolerMaster HAF 922 £110
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/179990
Personal choice, but this is a good one.

If he's going to overclock: Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B £45
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-005-PL&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395
+~£15 for a fan and thermal paste.

Total: £1348
