Specific OS Problem

I have 2 harddrives and 1 Solid state drive. On one of my harddrive i have my os which is windows 10. Im wanting to wipe my ssd and put my OS on it, but i have a windows 10 key with a windows 8.1 disk. Im wanting to know how to wipe my ssd and put windows 10 on it.

If all of the hardware is the same except the drive the OS is on, a clean install of 10 will automatically reactivate. A clean install is performed using a bootable USB or DVD.

But if there are no problems with your current installation it would be easier to simply clone the HDD to the SSD.

1. use an 8g usb stick download windows media creation tool.
2. run the tool make a new windows 10 boot usb stick.
3. boot from the usb stick after you unplug your hard drive. (keep the data safe).
4. during the install it ask if you have windows 10 key click skip.
5. after the install is done and windows gets online you should see that it activated again with a digital key.
6. power down and plug hard drive in.
