Specific USB port not working at all.

I just built a new pc about two weeks ago. All the USB ports were working and I had no issues at all. Recently, the second USB port on the top of the case stopped working completely for any device. All other ports on the top of the case work correctly as well as on the back of the pc, but the second one doesn't work at all for any device I plug in. Doesn't even say it doesn't recognize the device, nothing happens at all when I plug in a device. I did recently take off the front panel where the buttons and USB ports are to install a fan up there, but that is it. I have used the google machine and tried going into device manager and updating the drivers under the "universal series bus controllers" tab, as well as uninstalled all the ports and restarted the computer which was the other main option. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Did you check the USB hookup on your motherboard?

Yes I did, I even unplugged the usb plug in from the first usb1 port and put it in the usb port #2 and it does the same thing
