Spectre monitor

Does anyone know anything about the Spectre brand LCD monitors? I'm thinking about purchasing the 17inch model, b/c of financial retstraints. It's listed at $359 w/ free shipping (the most inexpensive 17inch I've come across). Would you consider it to be a wise purchase or should I just hold out and go with a reputable brand?

It depends on what you want to do with the monitor. You'll get what you pay for to some extent but the specs should speak for themself.

If you're just working in Office and surfing the web a bit I'd imagine it would probably be real nice for that. For graphic editing, movies and gaming you'll want a high contrast ratio and most importantly fast response rates (25ms or less) to prevent motion blur (ghosting).

I'm waiting for a 20", 500:1, 16ms LCD before I jump in to LCD bliss. They don't seem to exist yet

I have learned somethign new, if the rise and fall are presented seperatly, you add them together to get the total response. So that is a 25ms monitor.

I called Cornea Systems to ask about their panel, since they claim 20ms, and it is made by Hydis. Hydis was formerly Hyundai Display, while the manfacturer of the reviewed Hyundai panel is Hyundai Electronics (Now Hyundai Imagequest)

www.hyundaiq.com explains that they went their seperate ways in 2001. I Wish Tom's could review a panel with the Hydis panel to see if it is any good.

Sorry I'm a little late joining the chase on this one, but JustDeals has Sceptre X7G for $335.I can't speak for the quality of the monitor itself, but its a pretty good price. Personally, I'm stickin' with the CRT until I don't feel like I'm gambling with $500(Or at least until I find out what kind of LCD Arglesnaf goes for, he's got the right idea).
