Hey all, I don't know if this is the right board for this but I just noticed today that I have a 1 under the unlabeled category that is under your name when you post. It's the category that is a speech bubble with an exclamation point inside of it. I'm just curious what this is. I see most users have a 0 next to it, but a few users have 1 or higher on it.

Correct, and it has been removed.

JakobFel please don't self award a best answers.

I answered my own question on a thread... I didn't mark it for the credit, I marked it so others could easily find the solution that I found. Not sure why that's a problem, especially since I wasn't doing it with all of my threads or anything. But as you wish, I won't do that anymore.

The problem arises because the Best Answer (Solution) thing is sort of a ranking.

Some devious members (not you) would use that to up their 'rank'.
Post a question they already know the answer to, reply with the answer, award themself a point.
Wash rinse repeat.

Yes, people would do that.

I absolutely understand that. I've been working with forums at multiple levels for eons and I have definitely seen such stupidity on various occasions. I just don't think it's right to do anything about it unless the person is clearly abusing the system. But as I said, I won't do it again, it just kinda frustrates me because it was obvious that I was only doing that so that others could quickly find the solution that I came across.

Also, I'll add that I don't mean to come across as disrespectful or whatnot.

For reference, here's a screenshot of what I mean. The very bottom category is the one I'm referring to.

I answered that question months ago - https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/mega-info-thread.3574396/#post-21579240

Self awarding is a fault of the forum software. You shouldn't be able to do it. We can't stop people but we do try when we see it.
