[SOLVED] Speed and Latency question

In the process of specifying and gathering parts for new build; intended use is video editing with Premiere Pro and some gaming. Below is the parts list (items with $0 are in house). I should mention that at some point some mild overclocking may be performed.

After reading this forum and other sites, it seems that 3200 speed might be best (as opposed to 3000)? Also, I am not sure which latency spec to use......16 at the moment?

3200 ram will only outperform 3000mhz by a small amount in games and some workloads, however if you can find 3200 kit for a similar price to the 3000 kit, i would go for the faster 3200 kit. Likely you could xmp a 3000 kit to 3200mhz. Also on another note you might want an AIO for that cpu since air cooling with an overclock on a 9900k can lead to some toasty thermals. If you are only going to oc a little bit you will be fine with the d15.

Thanks for the reply; I will see what the price difference is between the 3000 and 3200.
The other issue is latency.....given the work load and system profile, would 16 suffice or go with 14?
Regarding thermals, I don't see anything more than mild overclocking....I was thinking either the Noctua D15 or D15S or possibly the Be Quiet Dark Pro 3....just concerned about RAM interference. Do you think I am ok with that?

I do not know much about how much ram timings affect performance. You usually can take a kit with loose timings and tighten them up. For mild oc you should be fine with any of the above coolers. I would pick your ram and then worry about what coolers will clear your ram.
