I am planning a new pc build for Ryzen 7 2700x or 3700x with Asus Rog strix b450-f gaming II with two 2 m.2 Nvme drives of Samsung 970 evo plus Nvme pcie 3.0 of 500gb or 1tb each.

The main reason for selecting Asus rog strix b450-f gaming II is that it has 2 M.2 slots and both slots works in pcie3.0x4 mode means will give speed upto 3500mbps theoretically. But the problem is that if I use m. 2_2 second slot then it shares lanes with the primary pcie_1 x16 slots and downgrade the speed to pcie_1x8. So I thought to put a adapter in pcie_2 slot and founded the Asus adapter.

I saw Asus Hyper M.2 X16 v2 adapter card which says that it works on 128 Gbps and support raid

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/Accessories/HYPER-M-2-X16-CARD-V2

  1. Power-up your RAID
  2. New two-phase power solution with up to 14 Watt output supports the latest NVMe drives
  3. Large heatsink reduces M.2 SSD temperatures for unthrottled transfer speeds and enhanced reliability
  4. Support for up to four PCIe® 3.0 M.2 drives with transfer bandwidth up to 128Gbps
5.Intel VROC technology and AMD Ryzen Threadripper support enables creation of bootable NVMe RAID arrays using CPU PCIe lane

Now my queries are

1. that as m.2 slot pcie3x3 in motherboard can give speed upto 3500 mbps then can adapter cards m.2 pcie 3x4 give more speeds if they are inserted in pcie 3x16 slot

2. What Asus hyper m.2 x16 v2 adapter card is saying transfer speed of 128gbps

3. As Asus hyper have 4 m.2 slots will all slots work in pcie 3.0x3 speed or less

4. On using m.2 drives on adapter does there comes some latency in writing or reading speed or bandwidth or hanging problem or slow down problem

5. Will m.2 drive be Bootable in adpater drive.

6. Will raid 0 or raid 1 will work in 3500mbps speed in adpater crd

7. Can we use the first m.2 slot of motherboard and all 4 m.2 slots of adapter card together.

8. As the Asus hyper m.2 adapter card requires pcie x16 slot and Asus Rog strix b450 have 2 two pcie 3.0 x16 slots one we can use for GPU and other for adpater card

9. But manual of Asus Rog strix 450 f page no. 1-8 says that it's
second slot pcie_2 3.0x16 works in x8 mode will the card work on it and give optimum speed

Any other drawbacks or positives for board or card opinions advices will be welcomed

Thank you in advance for reading replying commenting sharing your precious time advice opinions and knowledge. Thank you

@USAFRet bro nice too see you again happy new day and happy new year to you bro... thank you bro for following my questions and helping me out and clarifying my doubts and knowledge.

The previous question was about the motherboard slot degrading the pcie slot and effect of degrade on GPU performance but the answers further directed me to this question.

This question is regarding the Asus adapter card speed and performance and compatibility on performance

@USAFRet brother with questions discussions i get some good opinion advices and knowledge which raise some curiosity to find further I get some loopholes pros cons of boards and some good tricks solutions further directing me to hunt some best result I. Best specs.

I am trying to get for further finding some scope for getting maximum in m.2 drives speed and less compromising in m2 pcie in budgeted economical way.

Still hope you help me again to get some solution...I left to get after raid but interested to get atleast 3500mbps fir m.2 in both slot either by card or by slot with ecomical investment on board
