Speed up PDF to Tiff conversion?

At my new job I'm having to convert large numbers of BIG files from PDF from Tiff and it takes forever. The system I'm using has intel hd4600 graphics 8gb of ram and a 5400rpm harddrive. The processor is a core-i7 4790 What hardware should I upgrade in order to speed this process up?

One sure improvement would be upgrading your hard drive from a 5400rpm HDD to a solid state hard drive (SSD).

If you can't afford a SSD drive (or it doesn't have as much space as you need for the price) then you can still upgrade your HDD to a more recent and faster version of HDD. A new Western Digital HDD will run at 7200RPM and have a 64MB cache, which will be an improvement over your current 5400rpm model.
