i wrote the post a bit hastily at first. my specs are
Sentey Abaddom II - case with fans
ASRock 970 extreme 4 - mobo
AMD X4 3.4 965 black edition - cpu
cooler master hyper 212 evo - cpu cooler
8GB Crucial ram
I used to run everything stock with no overclocking and i used the ASRock tuning utility program to control my fans automatically (AND IT WORKED FINE ON AUTOMATIC). I then started overclocking my CPU from 3.4 to around 3.8 and got everything running comfortably. there is SOME glitch where if i run the ASRock tuning utility program while overclocking it gives me about 50 errors in a row and then crashes my computer. if i run the same overclock with no tuning utility program running and just speedfan i can use speedfan to regulate my fans, but when i set all the sensors and the automatic fans it will only lower it to the minimum and never goes max even when passed the warning temp. i can manually adjust the fans, but i'd hate to forget one day and overheat my CPU. my question would be, 1) why is my ASRock tuning utility crashing my computer when i overclock. 2) the hyper 212 evo IS a 4 pin and it was already regulating fan speed on the ASRock tuner so why would it not work on the speedfan when everything is setup seemingly correctly.
the hyper 212 evo CPU fan is the only thing i'm trying to regulate the speed of. i have knobs on the computer case for the case fans to manually adjust them, but i would like the CPU fan to auto regulate to the temps i have set while i am gaming heavily.
as of now i am just manually setting my fans to 100% in speedfan when i game and putting them to 45% when im just idling around but i have forgotten a few times and noticed the temp while its rising so i'd rather take the forgetful middle man out of the equation and let the speedfan do it for me.
