I am new to Speedfan and am testing out the fan temperature curve tool. I noticed that Speedfan gives me a different temperature reading of my CPU than HWMoniter. Is there something wrong with the software? Am I doing something wrong? I have a screenshot to show you but for some reason this forum won't let me upload a picture. I click the Picture option above the text box but it does nothing.

Intel I7 4790k
ASUS z97a
Cryrog H7 cooler

Solution
Verify that Hwmonitor is accurate vrs realtemp and SpeedFan. Could be that Hwmonitor is accurate, but using socket temp vrs core temp etc which will be different, but called cpu temp. If SpeedFan is still different from both, then devise a fan curve based on SpeedFan readings but tempered by what the others say is accurate
It's software, therefore it's fallible. There's several popular programs, including Asus suite (Asus mobo) that read my psu as 8.12v on the 12v rail. SpeedFan also lists 1 temp as 255°C and another as -125°C, all of which are physically impossible in a pc and still have it work.

For Intel cpu's I'd recommend RealTemp or CoreTemp for consistent monitoring.

For pictures, this forum is setup to only use 3rd party sites, not personal pc's as that totally avoids malware/Trojan activity sending unwanted or personal pictures. I personally prefer postimg.org, it's quick and easy to load a picture and gives a hotlink for forum use you copy to clipboard and paste in your answer, without having to leave and goto imgur or other 3rd party sites.

So do you recommend I use one of those programs as the guide for devising temperature curves in Speedfan instead of the program's own readings?
