Question Speedfan showing ridiculous cpu fan speed?

Might be useful to sanity check that (clearly incorrect) number with something like HWInfo or HWMonitor.

Thanks for the quick response! That was very concerning to see and I suspected a misread but wasn't sure. When I use HWMonitor it seems my cpu temps are misread as well, idle it says max is 70c?

It's possible - if cooler mounted improperly, full with dust, broken cooler or dried up thermal paste.
Or too much OC.

Well I have a laptop, its an asus rog gl552vw. 😏

Well, a good clean may be in order if those readings are accurate - and on a laptop, they might be.

The laptop nature is probably why SpeedFan is having a problem detecting. They're not a typical 4pin PWM that can be measured with any real degree of accuracy by software. SpeedFan clearly takes it to the extreme with those numbers, but I'm not too shocked about a misread on a laptop.

Clear out dust, and see if the idle* temps improve.

Are you truly 'idle'? Or does task manager show the CPU is being utilized about a couple of %?
