SpeedFan stops working upon launching game

I've had SpeedFan working to cool my GPU via my cases side intake fans for ages now and it's worked great, but recently the program hasn't been following my config to adequately cool my GPU. Upon launching a game the GPU fan spins up to cool it, usually SpeedFan would kick in and the side intake fans would add to the GPU cooling allowing the GPU fan to spin a smidge slower, but it hasn't been doing so lately and the GPU fan has that annoying whine constantly while running games.

I also noticed that upon launching a game SpeedFan no longer showed fan speeds for anything as well as not following my config and i couldn't even manually set them to 100, but before the game launch i could. After closing the game SpeedFan showed my GPU temp in the tray as 88 despite it being 35 and all fan speeds show as 0 but running at the min 40% set by my config.

I've completely uninstalled SpeedFan then rebooted my PC and reinstalled it, then got it back to where i had it and it initially worked fine and displayed the correct values for fan speeds again, but as i said after launching a game it now doesn't work.

Has anyone had similar problems and know of a fix?

Solution
Seems like you might be experiencing some issue with the BIOS/OS. Are you on the latest BIOS update? On another note, are you working with Windows 10? If so, monitor your resources usage in Task Manager.
