Hi everyone I wanting to know what the consensus is on paying 1k or more on a laptop. I've decided to buy a new laptop, actually "ultrabook". I need something extremely portable and reliable. Most seem to be upwards around 1k$. The reason I ask this is it seems that laptops are becoming increasingly disposable. Like phones, they've gotten cheaper so more people replace them more often. I've never owned a premium grade laptop. Can I expect the build quality to be worth 1k? Can I expect it to last 3+ years? (all of this with great care given to it of course) I'm considering the Dell XPS 15in for $1200. Or, should I buy something cheaper and just to replace it in a few years. I currently own a $400 Asus laptop. It's a year old and still runs well with its Celeron and 4gb of ram. I need something else though because it's too weak.
