Question SPIDF or 3 3.5 jacks for gaming?

Anyone knows. Is it better to use a toshlink or the 3 x 3.5 jacks that came along with my speaker system? I have logitech Z906 and Soundblaster Z sound card. PC is for gaming

I recommend the 3.5 mm jacks.

Fiber is likely to be more problematic in one way or another.

if you use toslink you will bypass the sound card you have and will depend on the built in DAC in your speaker system .

why is it problematic though ? I dont reccoment for him using it as he will bypass his sound card and use what is a potentially lower quality dac in his speaker system , but i never heard of problems with toslink before

I was a bit too "general" there.

It just seems more practical (to me at least) to use 3.5mm (1/8") cables overall. Easy to obtain, swap about for troubleshooting, and so forth.

And I was thinking in terms of the Lifewire link's "Pros and Cons".

Nice to have options but there are trade-offs.

Good point about by-passing the sound card.
