First off, whatever you do, disconnect the keyboard from the computer. Most laptop keyboards are removable with a few screws. Disconnect the ribbon and remove the keyboard so whatever you do won't accidentally short the laptop main board out.
Next, you can see how much of the keyboard you can disassemble to clean it. Some keys you can pop off, others you have to remove the layers and remove the whole silicone layer (which is then washable). It's hard to say every, keyboard is different. Worst case, you can just buy a new keyboard. It's usually not too expensive (20-30 bucks on ebay usually).
Whatever you do, make sure it's completely dry (wait 24 hours if you want to be safe) before hooking the ribbon cable back up...
