Swapping interface boards is a job that requires much experience, exactly matching rev levels, and a PROM from the original board to keep the first drive's geometric information. Some people believe it doing it; personally I don't. Oh, dear. I was about to post my link to a good thread on this subject, but it's an old one and doesn't seem to work on the current version of Tom's.
What's wrong with the drive that led you to conclude that the problem is the interface board? Is there anything important enough on it to be worth paying a lab to do it? Is there nothing important on it, so that you could just replace it?
