Splinter Cell Double Agent PC problems

Ok so I recently got SC : DA for my PC.
After I installed it , in the compatibility check , i had a green tick for everything except for driver version.
It said I needed Driver version 5919 or something like that.
SO i updated my graphic card driver from the nvidia site.
then when i run the game I can't put my resolution above 1024 x 768 pixels cuz the ratio doesn't go above 4:3
I usually play on 1360 x 768 (I know very low res but still)
later when i'm playing the game , sometimes when I'm in light my character and any other character model present starts getting all these innumerable red and yellow and green and blue (and you name it) colour dots on them.
My rig can play Splinter Cell Conviction on highest graphics at around 45-50 FPS and sometimes 60 or more.
After about 5 mins of playing SC : DA , a blue screen appears on my monitor and the PC restarts.This has rendered the game unplayable.Even though I have set the graphics to max the textures and lighting is comparatively very bad.
My PC Configuration is -
Windows XP 32-bit SP3
Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2.93 GHz
Nvidia 9800 GT 1GB GDDR3 Memory
2GB RAM
If any other configuration is needed to solve then please tell me.
Also the name of the file (latest driver) that I downloaded for my 9800 GT from the Nvidia site is -
280.26-desktop-winxp-32bit-english-whql
Please notify me if this is an incorrect driver for my 9800 GT.

You've got a BSOD issue.
Does this BSOD happen every single time, or just with this game ?
Did this problem occur even before updating the drivers ?

The red, blue colors, could be a sign of a dying/overheating video card.

1)Check the temps using HWMonitor
2)Does it happen with any other game, apart from Conviction ?

no no u got it wrong Splinter Cell Conviction works absolutely fine.
That issue happens with Splinter Cell Double Agent.
My computer used to hang a bit way before but now it doesn't.
My games used to simply hang and I would have to manually restart the PC(now it doesn't happen) but I never got the blue screen and automatic PC restart.
It doesn't happen with any other game.Even the new ones work fine when set to the appropriate graphics.
This problem occurs only while playing Splinter Cell Double Agent.
I will soon check the temp while playing SC : DA and update my post.

No. When I would play it on my old PC I had to set the graphics to low (Due to low PC standards) and the game would work fine.

That was actualy a typo error that I made, sorry.
I know that the crash doesn't happen with Conviction.
It was just an error I made.

Isn't that what you meant by bluescreen ?
Anyways, check the temps.

Splinter Cell Conviction (after playing entire Iraq level which probably requires the most juice in the whole game)
(Highest Graphics)
Temperature of GPU before playing = 56 degrees Celcius
Temperature of GPU after playing for 2 mins = 85 degrees celcius MAX


Splinter Cell Double Agent -
(Highest Graphics)
Temperature of GPU before playing = 56 degrees Celcius
Temperature of GPU after playing = 80 degrees celcius

56C on idle seems fine, but 85C on full load seems too much.
Check if the card got any sorts of dust piled in.
This is a problem with overheating
But I'm not sure why Conviction crashes though.
It could also be something related to your drivers. Since DA is old and Conviction is new, try rolling back to your previous drivers.

Thanks when I went back to my old driver that I installed from the Driver installation disc that i got with the card SC : DA
works fine. 😀
