Hello,I'm trying to do split screen in windows 7, running two differnt programs. One in each window, does anybody know how to do that?

Solution
Hi mako4. Open up a page in your browser. To get another window open press the Ctrl key + N and a new window should open. Also if you are on a web page and see a link you want to go to, Right click the link and choose - open in new window

Which programs are you trying to run, It will determine how you do it.

If its a game and application like web browser, you will need to run the game in windowed mode if it supports this, (I run LOTRO windowed on one screen and other applications on second screen simultaneously!)

No nothing quite like that. I've only been in the computer game for about 3 months now and I'm not that familier with the lingo yet. An example of what I'm trying to do would be- a friend sent me a picture of a snake in his back yard in my email. Could i put that up on one screen, put up say google in the other half, go into google find snakes and do a visual comparison that way??

Cassandra- This was very helpful but not exactly what i was looking for . The snap feature worked ok but, I only can get as far as getting one half of the screen if i try to bring in a different program it just simply comes up in that half. So it's like cutting my screen in half. I can't do anything with that . What the girl explains in the video is what I'm after it's just not happening. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for responding cassandra!

Hi Mako4 - If you are incorporating different programs into the mix (games, etc.) Snap might not work like you want it to. However, it should work when opening two browser windows and following the steps from the video demo. Try testing it out with two browser windows (for example, open your email in one window and a picture of snake from an internet search in a second window). Does it work?

cassandra-There lies the problem. Opening two browser windows no matter what i try i can't get two browsers to open up that's the key. I of course can get one to open then grab the top bar move it over then snap it in place, walla one half of the screen going on! No matter what i try from that point keeps happening in that half, the other half will not open.I had the start of another window, but no luck. so i shut down for about half hour came back in tryed to log on again, which took about five minutes for it to respond, when it did there were three little windows I have no ides what's up with that.Like i said i think the key is opening two browser windows and starting there, that's my problem. thanks for listening cassandra!!!!!!!!

What browser are you using? If FireFox, I can open a new browser window by either right-clicking a link and then choosing "Open Link in New Window" or go to the menu bar and select File->New Window.

In IE 8 I can select Page->New Window.

In both I can just hit CTL-N to open a new window.

Hey mibix19- I did try what you said I already have one set up. I get the same results. I think i know the problem if you can simply tell me how to "OPEN UP TWO BROWSER WINDOWS" that would be the starting point i need. For some odd reason that seems to be the key to it all, and that's where my problem is.If you watch the video on using snap the girl opens up with two windows already opened up, she explains it from there and it sounds simple BUT she never does say how she got those two windows open to start with. I ask different people they say *well start by opening two windows* I mean come on is this some sort of international secret ? Do you have to be a mason or in the cia ?

I'm getting desperate mibix19

mibix19- THANKYOU-THANKYOU-THANKYOU !! FINALLY!! The ctrl key + N was the key. Another window opened right up as soon as I pressed both at the same time. I combined that with what cassandra sent me about the snap feature and I now have two windows on one screen basically operating independant of each other. As soon as I seen it work I went out the front door raised my arms in the air and let out a big screem. (neighbors think I'm crazy now). By the way I dont know if I'm overstepping my boundrys or not, but when you come into email It's listed as UK and Ireland. Is that true? Do you really live there? Again thankyou very much!!
