Ok I'm getting Split second freezes / lag spikes when I am gaming.

I think I have narrowed the issue to the HD that my games are installed on as they aren't installed on my SSD and everytime I get 1 of these split second freezes / lag spikes, you can here the HD being accessed.

I've ran about every scan possilbe, I've had the company whom I bought the computer with even replace the GFX card when I thought that was the issue.

Any help or advice would be great

My system infomation is :

Zoostorm Hurricane
Intel i5-6500 2.7ghz
16g Ram
Geforce GTX 980

I'm guessing the HDD is an older drive? They tend to be a bit too slow for gaming now. But it could be a case of a 'unhealthy' HDD.

I had a clicking HDD installed for years which would cause a similar issue at times.

To monitor what could be causing the issue I would recommend that you have task manager running in the background (if you have a second monitor then display it on that monitor) and whenever you experience this micro-stutter, check task manager for any random spikes of % used or drops in performance.

If your HDD is the issue I would recommend that you replace it as soon as possible as HDDs can be very temperamental but once it is has a slight error it can only get worse.

But before replacing anything, monitor your hardware while playing games as the issue might not be the HDD.

Where you view all your hard drives in File Explorer, right click on the HDD, go to properties then the Hardware tab. It should tell you there, or it may just say the model number.
