Splitting a memory kit between 2 pcs

This probably sounds like a stupid question, but if I see a good sale on a 16gb kit of RAM, would there be any issue splitting the set so that each pc uses 8gb?

Not really Allthroguh both PC would runs at single channels unless its a 4-4gb kit but in day to day use there isn't a difference between single and dual channel mode

Ok thanks, I just wanted to be sure, they are 4x4GB sticks.
