splitting reset or power header?

dear systems builder---

I would like to connect two reset or two power (SW) buttons to my motherboard. This can be useful if the computer is 30m away in a cabinet and I sometimes want to trigger the reset while on the computer and at other times when I am sitting far away. It can also be useful if I want to give a little arduino the ability to trigger a computer reset.

as far as I can tell, all computer cases come with standardized headers that connect to the standardized reset and power-SW pins on the motherboard. so, I think I need a splitter [so that that two buttons can trigger the closing of the switch; presumably a female that plugs into the motherboard male, and delivers two males], and a standard plastic-piece female header that I can attach to my little wire cable coming from an arduino. has anyone tried something like this?

All you need is a couple 2 pin headers. They plug into the mother board just like the existing chassis switches. You run your external switches in parallel to the chassis switches (you can solder your new switches to the header). Use normally open, momentary switches SPST...ratings are unimportant since the current is very low....I did what you want to do with Radio Shack switches and headers from a local Microcenter.

Good luck!
