A while back I told you all of the weird experience I had playing the
T-Rex scenario in the CRASH SITE section of TR3. Wherein Lara entered
his area, activated him, ran for the switches and then heard him simply
keel over dead behind her for no apparent reason - no shooting, no
raptors, not even those annoying little green lizards...nothing! Just
Lara ( guns firmly holstered ) and a dead T-Rex.
Well, I'm playing that section again and something else weird has
happened. Upon entering the upper area ( above the T-Rex nest ) Lara
activated the two raptors and jumped up on a ledge to safety, leaving
them to the guard that had been roaming the area. The guard killed one
and the remaining one did for the guard. Both the dead raptor's
collapsed body and that of the guard's lay flat out on the ground! She
then did the pick-ups in the tree and dropped down into the T-Rex area (
leaving a LONE raptor prowling above ).
Now...having played this area before, I knew that the remaining raptor
would come down and attack ol' T-Rex when Lara opened the proper gate to
let it in from above. right?
Lara did her thing - yadda yadda yadda - and when she threw the switch
to open the grating from above...TWO raptors came down the stairs! One
went for Rexykins and the other came straight for our Lady of Perpetual
Gunfire! I ran Lara around a bit, even taking her back upstairs, and the
raptor stayed right on her tail no matter where she went. She finally
had to introduce him to her friend: Mister Shotgun.
Now this is the really odd bit...
When I check the upper area, the dead guard's body is still there...but
the dead raptor's carcass was gone from where it had fallen! It was NOT
there beside the corpse of the guard, nor was it anywhere else to be
found. It seems that the raptor the guard had killed earlier had somehow
pleased the dinosaur gods to the degree that they granted it a second
chance to nail that nasty old ponytailed human that had played it such a
dirty trick earlier. It had come back to life and gone on the attack,
and not for T-Rex either!
I said it was odd. Two strange happenstances in the same area of TR3, in
consecutive playings of the area in question. I wonder what will happen
next if I play it again some day...maybe the T-Rex and the velociraptors
will dance together in a chorus line or something!
