Hey, guys,

I'm asking for help with my gaming machine, specifically the CPU i5 10600k. My cpu is clocking itself up to 4700 MHZ, temperatures are around 90 - 100 degrees at peak. Then it drops to maybe 60 or 70 degrees and maybe 800 MHZ and it repeats over and over again.This is how it behaves without me having anything running. No background processes - nothing. The processor is on a Z490 gaming plus board. MSI mag Coreliquid 240R cooling. No boosts enabled in the bios, bios is on the latest version. I have not clocked the processor. I tried 2x reinstalling and rebuilding the cooling. Optical check of the cpu is OK. The Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool Overview showed me that everything is OK. Aida tells me when I test cpu throttling and overheating. I've tried different apps to measure temperature at the cores and everything confirms overheating. Windows power is at max, my system is new and I'm running at 11ctk. PC power supply I have 1000w. I don't know what to try next, so I'm open to all advice, thanks for that!

@Untentrauer
Many similar MSI coolers have been recalled. Your temps are way too high for a 10600K. Your cooler has likely failed.

For comparison, here is how a Corsair H100i RGB PRO XT cools a similar 10th Gen CPU with all 10 cores running at 4800 MHz. During a full load Cinebench test, the maximum temperature is only 58°C.

Any decent and properly functioning AIO should have no problem keeping your 10600K a lot cooler than the temperature it is running at now.
Thank you. I have already packed the cooler and sent it back! We'll see how they take to it.

Hey,
it's only fair to post here how it went. So I've claimed the cooler and my claim has been accepted. I currently bought a NZXT KRAKEN 240 cooler. My temperatures are between 60 - 70 degrees when gaming at 2k. Thank you all for the advice!
